TAR19: FOLLOW-UP
Yes, this season of The Amazing Race is not at all impressive and it sure make some avid fans feel that it is not “Amazing” as it should be. While a reality TV analyst Andy Dehnart wrote a post about his decision of breaking up with The Amazing Race, CLICK HERE, many viewers still decide to watch the show not because they love the show but because there is no other reality TV show to watch on a Sunday night.
Andy pretty much stressed all the important points about why The Amazing Race is no longer “Amazing”. I as a producer of the replica of the show totally agree the problems that The Amazing Race has for the past several seasons. That’s why “The Amazing Hunt” is constantly coming up with new twists to change the dynamic of the race itself to make it feel fresh and surprising. We are not a TV show but it seems we are putting much more effort to improve ourselves than the actualy TV show.
The U.S. version currently has the worst production quality in comparison to all other spin off such as “Asia”, “China Rush” and “Australia”. But, on the other hand, these spin offs do not have to put on a season every year like the U.S. version. So, it does feel like The Amazing Race in U.S. does require a recharge in order to make it better. Yes, the logisitic of the race is something an outsider like us won’t have a grasp on, but we can still sense whether the effort is being put in to a show or not. Now, I can officially say, I will be looking forward to its 20th season since it is a big two-o after all. A serious revamp is definitely needed and The Amazing Race production can just look at how “The Amazing Hunt” is doing. Our twists may not be a total new and original concept, but it sure creates more dramas than the fake and frantic editing is trying to accomplish.
Lastly, it is only the second episode of The Amazing Race, apparently, the production team does try to change a few things about the race by not using the traditional red and yellow stripe markers as it has never appeared in the race so far. Also, they remake some signs and look like they do spend some money to change a few things this season.
